Born Nov. 1, 1846. Served in 2nd S.C. Heavy Artillery Regiment 1864-1865; wounded at Bentonville, N.C. Successful farmer, president/treasurer of Norris Cotton Mills and Isaqueena Cotton Mills. President of state Farmer's Alliance and Pendleton Farmer's Society. Served in S.C. Senate 1894-1898 (president protem 1897-1898).
